Jim Smalley, Radio Legend: Banquet Speaker
Jim Smalley was born in Kipling Saskatchewan and raised in Corning on a grain and cattle farm.
He accepted his first radio job at age 18 in Ontario, then returning to Saskatchewan to be a part of CFSL Weyburn.
In 1975, Jim started as the first farm reporter at CKCK Radio and Television in Regina. He accepted a position of Farm Director at CKRM in 1982 where he remained until his retirement in April 2023.
His childhood interest in history and numismatics led to opening a business buying and selling coins of the world called Small Things in 1995. He is a former president and lifetime member of the Regina Coin Club.
Jim has been married to Penny (nee Eastman) since 1976, and are the parents of two adult daughters in addition to having served as Foster Parents for the Sask Dept of Social Services.
They enjoy camping and outdoor activities and have a special interest in visiting museums while traveling.
